Moodle 3.2 thema plugin Fordson – nieuwe standaard?

Vanaf Moodle 3.2 is het nieuwe standaard Moodle thema gebaseerd op het Bootstrap 4 framework. Het duurt dan altijd even voordat er thema’s als plugin beschikbaar komen. Recentelijk verscheen al Photo met al wat extra mogelijkheden bovenop de standaard.

Vanaf vandaag komt daar het thema met de naam Fordson bij. Dit thema is ontwikkeld door Dearborn Public Schools uit Michigan en beschikbaar gesteld als gratis plugin.

Op de plugin pagina wordt het thema als volgt omschreven: “The Fordson theme is designed, tested, and supported by Dearborn Public Schools with feedback from classroom teachers. Fordson provides an impressive user experience right out of the box. Install and activate Fordson and your site will begin catching the attention of staff and students!”

Het thema heeft standaard een grote hoeveelheid extra functionaliteit. Hieronder de volledige opsomming.

• Custom full screen image for login page
• Customized Course Activities (This Course) drop down menu next to breadcrumbs with special links for teachers: Enrollments, Manage Groups, Question Bank, and Question Categories. Links can be removed with a simple checkbox in theme administration page.
• Custom header image for main site and each course page (Lets teachers customize the top banner in their course by uploading an image to their course summary file area)
• Enhanced homepage experience with Icon Navigation Box for visual navigation cues, Versatile Marketing Tiles, Custom Textbox for instructions, and a Course Searchbox to quickly find and enroll in courses
• Special “Create a Course” button provides quick access to anyone that has the capability within Moodle to create courses right from the homepage
• Color choosers for all major elements of the design
• Social icons in footer
• Built for all screen sizes
• Support for uploading style presets and custom SCSS
• Out of the box a clean, refined, and stylish appearance with minimal configuration

De Homepage is een pagina waar extra mogelijkheden zijn ingebouwd zoals het aanbieden van een aantal iconen die de gebruiker snel naar een aantal veel gebruikte pagina’s brengt.

Waar het Essential thema de standaard was tot 3.1 lijkt mij Fordson een goede opvolger vanaf 3.2! Wil je je eigen 3.2 thema in huisstijl neem dan contact met ons op.
